Does cooler fall weather have you hankering to spend more time outdoors? Do you like to run? Would you like to have some fun while supporting a good local cause?

If you answer “yes” to any or all of those questions, you might be interested in one of several fundraising races that are scheduled throughout the Monadnock area in October. These races take you through some of the prettiest scenery in the region and raise funds for a wide variety of organizations, from local parent teacher groups to running clubs.

So, lace up your running shoes and get going! You can get some exercise while supporting the community!

October 13.

  • Fall Foliage 5K. A run through both the urban and wooded areas of Keene, New Hampshire, the Fall Foliage 5K is sponsored by the YMCA. Check-in at the YMCA at 100 Summit Road begins at 8:30 a.m., with the race itself kicking off at 10 a.m. A Family Fun Run starts at 11 a.m. Registration fees range from $10 to $25.

October 20.

  • Pumpkin Promenade and 5K. The Gathering Place Life Enrichment Center is hosting its first-ever fun run and 5K race at its Brattleboro, Vermont, facility located at 30 Terrace Street. The timed race will take runners down Route 30 and follow along the scenic West River. Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners for men and women. All who walk/run/roll the half mile Pumpkin Promenade earn a prize. Costumes are encouraged! The fun starts at 8:30 a.m. Registration fees range from $5 to $35, plus a $75 fee for a family of four.
